TENOR
American tenor Victor Ryan Robertson offers a versatile singing ability and style allowing him to cross seamlessly between genres. From opera repertoire to pop music, and everything in between, Robertson delights international audiences around the world. Victor is the only singer ever to make his debut on Broadway, at the Metropolitan Opera, and the Kennedy Center stage in the same season. Robertson began this historic run on Broadway with The Phantom of the Opera, then The Merry Widow with The Metropolitan Opera and for Kennedy Center, Mr. Robertson created the role of Benny Paret/Benny Paret in Terence Blanchard’s Champion. Victor performed with Carly Simon in the role of Zoogie in her ambitious contemporary opera, Romulus Hunt at Nashville Opera, the recording on which he is featured. He portrayed Hosea Williams in the World Premiere of Douglas Tappin’s Rhythm & Blues opera, I Dream; a new work created for the 50th commemoration of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with Toledo Opera and Opera Carolina, Le Capitaine and Prince Ragotski in Candide with Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy, France, the role of Sportin’ Life in Porgy and Bess, with the Los Angeles Opera, Syracuse Opera, Dallas Opera, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, London, Edinburgh, and Cardiff with the Cape Town Opera, and Spoleto Festival USA. Mr. Robertson made his European début at the Royal Albert Hall in London as Rodolfo in Francesca Zambello’s production of La bohe me to wide acclaim. The Guardian says he “offers an appealing, well-defined tenor with plenty of energy.” The Independent praised his “dashing Rodolfo...he delivers body and soul.” He returned to the UK to perform Rinaldo in Armida with the Garsington Opera in England. Mr. Robertson first earned critical acclaim as Rodolfo in Baz Luhrman’s adaptation of Puccini’s La bohe me at The Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles in a record 82 consecutive sold out shows. and performed with Three Mo’ Tenors off Broadway, Moscow, Edinburgh Festival, and successful North American tour.
